The seven-tab problem

Getting a small business properly online is not one job. It is seven small jobs, each with its own account, its own verification step, and its own way of going quietly wrong.

Most owners get three of them done. The domain is bought. There is a website of some kind. Maybe email works. And then the tab with Search Console open never gets finished, Analytics was installed once and nobody checked whether it fires, and the Google Business Profile either does not exist or was created years ago by someone who has left.

The result is a business that exists but cannot be found, and no data to explain why. That is not a marketing problem yet. It is a plumbing problem, and it is fixable in a fortnight.

What is in the bundle

1. Domain, registered in your name. Yours, not ours. We handle DNS, and we set up the records that stop your email landing in spam — SPF, DKIM and DMARC — which is the step that gets skipped most often and causes the most confusion later.

2. Business email on your own domain. you@yourbusiness.com rather than a Gmail address, because it changes how quotes get read. We configure Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 on your account. The subscription itself runs roughly $6 to $12 per user per month and you pay Google or Microsoft directly — we do not mark that up.

3. A working website. Clean, fast, mobile-first, and honest about what you do. Home, services, about, contact, and a form that actually reaches you — which is worth stating, because a form that silently fails is the most expensive bug a small site can have. We test it end to end before handover.

4. Google Business Profile, created and verified. The highest-value free listing a local business can have. We handle categories, service areas, hours, description and photos, and we get the address question right — because a profile built on a mailbox address gets suspended, and suspensions are slow to unwind.

5. Google Analytics 4, configured properly. Not just the tag pasted in. Data retention set to 14 months rather than the two-month default that silently deletes your history, and conversion tracking configured so form submissions and calls register as key events. Installed and verified firing, not assumed.

6. Google Search Console, verified and submitted. Sitemap generated and submitted, Analytics linked, and the indexing report checked so you know Google can actually read the site rather than hoping.

7. AI search visibility. This is the one almost nobody includes, and it is increasingly the one that matters. We configure robots.txt to explicitly welcome the AI crawlers — GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and the rest — publish an llms.txt describing your business in the form those systems read, add structured data so an AI can answer questions about you accurately, and set up IndexNow so new pages reach Bing in minutes rather than weeks. Bing's index is what feeds ChatGPT search, which makes it a live acquisition channel rather than a theoretical one.

Why the AI piece is in here

Because the way people find businesses is changing, and most small sites are invisible to the half of it that is new.

When someone asks an AI assistant for a recommendation, that system reads the web with crawlers that are not Googlebot. If your robots.txt does not name them, some will not read you. If your site has no structured description of what you sell and where, the AI has to infer it — and when it infers wrong, it says something wrong about your business to someone who was ready to buy.

This is not speculative and it is not expensive. It is a handful of files and some markup, done once, at setup, when it costs nothing extra. Doing it later means going back through a site that was built without it.

What this is not

We would rather set the expectation now than have you disappointed later.

This is not a bespoke website design. It is a clean, credible, fast site on a proven structure. A custom design build runs $2,500 to $7,000 from a freelancer and $5,000 to $15,000 from an agency. If that is what you need, we will say so and point you at someone good rather than sell you this.

This is not ongoing SEO. Setup makes you findable and measurable. Ranking for competitive terms is a longer game, and anyone promising it in a setup package is overselling.

This is not an ad campaign. No spend is included and none is required.

You own everything

The domain is registered in your name. The Google and Microsoft accounts are yours, with you as owner. The website files are yours. If you decide next month that you would rather work with someone else, you take all of it and nothing breaks.

We mention this because the opposite is common. Agencies that register your domain in their own account, or hold owner rights on your Analytics, are building switching costs, not doing you a service. Ask anyone you are considering who owns the domain, and watch how they answer.

Timing, honestly

Most of this lands inside two weeks. Domain, email, DNS records, website, Analytics, Search Console and the AI setup are all on our timetable and we control them.

Google Business Profile verification is not. It can be same-day by phone or video, or it can take a couple of weeks if Google asks for a postcard. We will tell you which route your situation is likely to take on the call, and we will not promise a date that belongs to Google.

Everything above, in one engagement.

Book the call and we will tell you what you already have, what is broken, and what is actually worth paying for.

This is probably not a fit if…

You already have all seven working. Then you do not need this, and we will tell you on the call. What you might need instead is automation on top of it.

You want a designed brand experience. Different job, different budget, and we are not the right shop for it.

You enjoy doing this yourself. Every component here is genuinely DIY-able. The domain is $10 to $20 a year, Search Console and Analytics and the Business Profile are free. What you are buying is that it gets done correctly, once, this fortnight, instead of sitting in an open tab for another year.

Where to start

Book a free 30-minute call. We will look at what exists today — you may have more working than you think — and tell you what is genuinely missing. If the honest answer is that you only need two of the seven, that is what we will quote.

Once you are set up, the natural next step is having someone run the operations behind it. That is our AI system building work, and it starts at $297/mo — but it is a separate decision and there is no obligation to take it.

Quoted
if you only need some of it

Plenty of businesses already have three or four of these working. We audit first and quote only the gaps — we would rather sell you half of this than all of it twice.

For comparison: a bespoke website build alone runs $2,500–$7,000 from a freelancer and $5,000–$15,000 from an agency, and Google Business Profile setup on its own is commonly $300–$1,500. Ongoing subscriptions — the domain at $10–$20 a year and email at roughly $6–$12 per user per month — you pay Google or Microsoft directly. We do not mark those up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Starter bundle — quick answers

What is included in the small business starter bundle?

Seven things, set up and verified: a domain registered in your name, business email on that domain, a simple working website, a Google Business Profile created and verified, Google Analytics 4 with conversion tracking configured, Google Search Console verified with your sitemap submitted, and AI search visibility — the robots.txt permissions, llms.txt file and structured data that let ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Google's AI answers read and cite your business.

Why do I need a Google Business Profile?

It is the single highest-value free listing a local business can have. It feeds the map pack, Google's local results and the knowledge panel, and it is often the first thing a customer sees when they search your name or your trade plus your town. Setting it up is free; the part people get wrong is the address rules, the category choice and the verification, and a profile that gets suspended is slow and painful to recover.

What is AI search visibility and why does it matter?

Increasingly, people ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Copilot for a recommendation instead of searching and clicking. Those systems read your site with different crawlers, and most small business sites either block them by accident or give them nothing structured to read. AI search visibility means explicitly permitting those crawlers, publishing an llms.txt that tells them what your business does, and marking up your pages so an AI can answer a question about you accurately rather than guessing.

Do I own the domain and accounts afterwards?

Yes, all of it. The domain is registered in your name, the Google accounts are yours, and you are the owner on every property we set up — not us. We would rather you could fire us and keep everything working. Agencies that register your domain in their own name are creating leverage, not doing you a favour.

How long does the setup take?

Most of it lands within two weeks. The one genuinely unpredictable piece is Google Business Profile verification, which is on Google's timetable rather than ours — it can be same-day by phone or video, or a couple of weeks if a postcard is required. We tell you what to expect for your situation on the call rather than promising a date we do not control.

Is this a custom website design?

No, and we would rather be clear about that. This is a clean, fast, mobile-friendly site that says who you are, what you do, and how to contact you, built on a proven structure. A bespoke design build from a freelancer typically runs $2,500 to $7,000 and from an agency $5,000 to $15,000. If you need that, we will tell you and point you at someone good. This bundle exists for the business that needs to be findable and credible, quickly.

Get found on Google — and by the AI people ask instead.
